It is a completely reasonable question—and unfortunately, there isn’t one simple answer.
Wedding planning fees in Sydney can vary significantly depending on the level of planning you require, the size and complexity of your wedding, the number of suppliers involved, your venue and, importantly, how much support you want throughout the planning process.
For couples planning a luxury or highly personalised wedding, I believe it is particularly important to look beyond the price of a planner and consider the value, experience and expertise they bring to your wedding.
As a general guide, Sydney wedding planning services can range from a few thousand dollars for limited coordination through to $10,000, $15,000 or considerably more for comprehensive luxury wedding planning.
Current Sydney wedding-planning guides place full-service planning broadly in the $7,000–$15,000 range, with luxury and destination planning potentially reaching $12,000–$25,000+. These figures are guides only and individual planners structure their fees differently. (WedAdvisor)
The important question isn’t simply:
It is:
A full-service wedding planner can become the person who oversees the entire journey from your initial ideas through to your wedding day.
Depending on the planner, this may include:
And there is another part that is harder to put on a spreadsheet:
After many years in the wedding industry, you start to recognise potential problems before they become problems.
That is one of the greatest benefits of having an experienced planner beside you.
Luxury weddings are rarely simply “bigger weddings”.
They tend to involve more moving parts, more suppliers, more styling, more production and a much higher level of detail.
A luxury Sydney wedding might involve a ceremony at one location, photographs at another, a reception elsewhere, multiple transport movements, complex floral installations, lighting production, entertainment, stationery, personalised guest experiences and a large supplier team.
The more complex the wedding, the more planning and management is required.
This is one of the biggest misconceptions about wedding planning.
A professional wedding planner isn’t simply someone who tells you what needs to be done.
You’re investing in:
Knowing which suppliers are exceptional.
Knowing what works and what doesn’t.
Having established relationships with trusted venues and suppliers.
Understanding quotes, contracts and inclusions.
Knowing what to do when something doesn’t go according to plan.
Taking hundreds of decisions and hours of administration away from you.
Knowing someone experienced is watching over the details.
For a luxury Sydney wedding, I recommend starting the conversation with your planner early.
Ideally, I would suggest around 12–18 months before your wedding, particularly if you have a popular Saturday date or a highly sought-after venue.
If you are planning a destination wedding, an overseas wedding in Sydney or a particularly complex celebration, starting earlier can be even more beneficial.
For some couples, absolutely.
For others, perhaps not.
If you genuinely enjoy researching suppliers, negotiating contracts, creating spreadsheets, managing timelines and coordinating dozens of people, you may love planning your own wedding.
But if the thought of doing all of that makes you feel overwhelmed—or you simply don’t have the time—professional planning can be one of the best investments you make.
Your wedding is not something you can rehearse again tomorrow.
You get one opportunity to experience it.
My philosophy has always been that my couples should be able to enjoy their engagement and, ultimately, their wedding day—not spend it worrying about whether the florist has arrived or whether the DJ knows where to set up.
When choosing your wedding planner, I encourage couples not to choose purely on price.
Instead, ask:
Because when your wedding day arrives, experience matters.
And that is ultimately what you are investing in.
If you’re planning a luxury wedding in Sydney and would like to discuss how I could help bring your celebration together, I would love to hear from you.
